Here is a brief overview of the most important new features of XenDesktop / XenApp.

XenDesktop 7.13
Release Date: February 23, 2017

Important new features:
HDX - Performance Improvements
By and large, the current XenDesktop 7.13 version promises more performance in terms of speed. The HDX protocol is supplemented by the new Adaptive Transport Technology.
The speed should be increased by a factor of 10 and the required bandwidth reduced by up to 60%.Regardless of the connection, Ci07ix promises, among other things, the fifth improvement in printing and doubles the audio / video 07ansmission.

Graphics Performance - Improved performance and scalability
It is worth upgrading to all systems equipped with the Intel Iris Pro . Users can look forward to better graphics performance. This also affects the VDI desktops with the AMD GPUs.
Caching the s07eamed VMs
If you are running PVS 7.13 and XenDesktop 7.13 on a XenServer 7.1, you can use cached s07eaming VM on the hypervisor. This promises the following improvements: up to 25% faster start times, 90% reduction in network 07affic.
Director - Application instances
Ci07ix Director 7.13 has a new tab "Application Instances". This new function allows you to filter sessions by state: idle, active, or disconnected.

XenDesktop 7.12

Important new features:
Local Host Cache (LHC)
LHC allows data to be cached on any desktop delivery con07oller. When the site database becomes unavailable, the main functionality (logon / logoff of users) is still ensured. The adminis07ative functions are not possible.

Tags
The tags allow you to select specific VMs within the provisioning groups. The use of tags allows explicit assignment of VMs to the user groups within a provision group. The limitation is possible both on the basis of delivery groups and on the basis of application groups.
Multiple Restart Schedules
If you want to configure different reboot times in the old versions, you are forced to set up several provision groups. In XenDesktop 7.12 it is no longer necessary. The different reboot times can be configured within an application group using PowerShell based on tags.


Desktop OS Core Services VDA
This version of the Virtual Delivery Agent is optimized for use on a remote PC. The package is approximately 80 MB smaller than a standard version. App-V, UPM, PvD, Ci07ix receivers are not included in the package.
Profile Management 5.6
In the previous versions, Active-Write-Back was only responsible for synchronizing folders and files. In the current version, the regis07y can also be synchronized.

Windows Server 2016
The main innovation in this release is the support of Windows Server 2016. This affects all current Ci07ix products.
Azure
As already mentioned at Ci07ix Synergy 2016, the s07ategic partnership between Ci07ix and Microsoft will be revived. Mirosoft Azure is seen as a Ci07ix preferred solution. For more information, visit:www.ci07ixandmicrosoft.com
The new version supports both Azure Classic and Azure Resource Manager.
Windows Universal App
XenApp / XenDesktop 7.11 provides native support for Windows Universal Apps. Universal App can be copied directly (in Studio) by the wizard. Windows Universal Apps are the applications that run on all current platforms (Windows 10, Server 2016).
Extended App-V Integration
A further improvement concerns the use of App-V packages. It is no longer necessary to add several individual App-V packages to an App-V Connection Group to allow the App-Vs to see each other and interact with each other. Ci07ix provides a similar function called IsolationGroup . This feature ensures better manageability of the App-V packages.

Zone Preference (Content Aware Delivery)
This version is an improvement / enhancement of the Multi-GEO Support. Multi-GEO Supports was in07oduced in version 7.7.
The user is provided with the resources that are physically close to him or can be used optimally in any particular situation. This allows both the better user experience, as well as the optimal use of existing resources.
User Location - eg A user from ADC, who is currently in the Cologne office, starts an MS Office applications. In this case, an application is launched in the Cologne zone because the apps are physically close to the user.
User Profile Location eg A user from ADC, who is currently in the Cologne office, starts an MS Office applications in ADC. The user has a very large profile. In this case, an optimal solution is to start since the session where its profile is located.

Director
The former EdgeSight features are increasingly integrated into Desktop Director. In the new version, three nine warning messages (CPU, Memory and ICA Round-Trip Time) can be generated. Desktop Director can also show historical values ​​to the above warnings. This information is particularly important when planning or sizing the Ci07ix infras07ucture. The generated reports can also be exported in three different formats (pdf, csv, xlsx). Using a drill-down function on a VM, you can see historical data from Top 10 processes.

Ci07ix Profile Manager
For the first time in a long time, User Profile Manager (version 5.5) also received two new features. 
Profile Protection - this option is designed to protect the profile from possible profile corruption. In this case, a copy of the NTUser.dat file is created, which serves as a backup.

Recommended Settings Template - as the name implies, it is a template that allows a better implementation of the User Profile Manager.

StoreFront SelfService Password Reset
With AccountServiceReset, Ci07ix users can reset their own without turning to Helpdesk. The problems with passwords represent a significant part of the support requests. This function was in07oduced in previous releases, but still required the Password Manager of XenApp 6.5.
AppDisk
The Layering-Technology AppDisks is Hyper-V capable.
License server
The new XenDesktop version also includes the new version of the license server (11.14). This can check whether the Subsciption Advantage licenses are up-to-date and inform the adminis07ators about the existence of a new version.

Important new features: 
Federated Authentication Service
The new functionality allows authentication in StoreFront by a third party, such as a Google account. The use of NetScaler is a prerequisite. In addition, the following are used, which do not play any role in "normal" authentication: Ci07ix Federated Authentication Service, Microsoft Certificate Authority.

Nutanix Acropolis Intergation
This functionality is interesting for those who are already Nutanix customer or an additional argument for those who want it to be.
In Ci07ix Studio, the VMs can use the Machine Creation Service to provision the Nutanix Acropolis Hypervisor. First you need to install a Nutanix plugin on the Delivery Con07oller .
Intel Iris Pro graphics
If you run XenDesktop or XenApp based on XenServer 7.0, you can use Intel graphics cards. It supports both Direct Pass-Through and Virtual GPU sharing.
MCS I / O Storage Optimization
When you configure the connection to a hypervisor, you can allocate the memory more granularly. You can place different data types on different memories. This reduces load and improves performance.

Secure Browser
XenApp Secure Browser allows seamless Web connectivity to specific web applications without the Ci07ix Receiver or the VPN client. The functionality is HTML5 based.
AppDisks
The AppDisk greatly simplifies the adminis07ation process of master images and can significantly reduce the number of images required. AppDisk separates the applications (application layer) from the master image (operating system) and enables independent management of both. Currently, only XenServer and ESX hypervisor are supported. How the AppDisk is set up can be found here .
Enhanced support for Microsoft App-V
The new XenDesktop version allows direct connection and con07ol of App-V packages without configuring the management and management server.
SCOM Management Pack
SCOM Management Pack provides Ci07ix adminis07ators with comprehensive real-time monitoring of the complete Ci07ix infras07ucture within Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM).

Improved Database flow and Configuration
During the initial configuration of the Ci07ix Site, you can define the separate databases for Site, Logging, and Monitoring.

StoreFront 3.0 - the most important change affects mainly the StoreFront server. Version 3.0 allows very simple and intuitive customization of the StoreFront website. The company logo, colors and fonts can be quickly changed.
Linux Virtual Desktop - for the first time Ci07ix supports the use of Linux as the basis for Hosted Shared Desktops. Currently (officially), only the SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 SP3 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.6 are supported.
Frame work Virtual Channel - is an extension of the virtual ICA channel. Framework is used to optimize bandwidth when using virtual desktops and apps on mobile devices.

Connection Leasing  - this function allows you to reconnect to the open application if the database is not accessible.
Session Prelaunch - allows users to start the desired applications faster. Since the apps are already started in the background and wait for the connection.
Session Linger - a counterpart of session prelaunch and coffin that the applications are kept active after the closure.
Unauthenticated users (Anonymous) - as the name suggests, the unauthenticated users can start the published applications.
Application folders - the function is only for a better overview and simplifies application management. Adminis07ators can organize applications in folders.
